Laura J. Farris
At the Law Offices of Laura J. Farris, which is located in beautiful downtown Carlsbad, we are dedicated solely to representing EMPLOYEES. Ms. Farris has extensive litigation experience with all types of employment-related claims, she is highly aggressive, and she is compassionate towards her clients. Ms. Farris handles claims for Discrimination (all types), Sexual Harassment, Retaliation, Wrongful Termination, and Whistle-Blowing, as well as Severance Negotiations, Contract Issues, Review of Legal Documents, Unemployment Appeal Hearings, Labor Code violations, and employment-related Defamation Claims.
Ms. Farris is very easy and comfortable to work with, she is accessible and understanding, and she cares about her clients. Ms. Farris started her own law firm in 1997 so she could offer the highest quality legal services to her clients in a personal and cost-effective manner. Ms. Farris never takes any client for granted.
Ms. Farris works very hard to help her clients resolve their legal issues with their employers. Sometimes this can be achieved through pre-litigation settlement efforts, such as negotiations between attorneys and/or mediation. This occurs before a lawsuit is filed with the court. When pre-litigation settlement efforts are not successful, Ms. Farris is fully prepared to take aggressive legal action on behalf of her clients, such as filing a lawsuit with the court or filing for arbitration in the event a valid arbitration agreement exists. Please be aware, however, that not all cases are appropriate for litigation for various reasons. Ms. Farris makes that determination on a case-by-case basis.
Ms. Farris is a member of CELA (California Employment Lawyers Association), NELA (National Employment Lawyers Association), and also a Master in the American Inns of Court, Fiorenzo V. Lopardo Chapter. The position of "Master" is the highest level you can achieve in the American Inns of Court, which is comprised of Judges and Attorneys. There are very few Masters in each Chapter and they include the Judges and the attorneys who are the most experienced in their field. Ms. Farris was promoted to Master by the Judges. She has also served as a Pro-Tem Judge for the San Diego Superior Court for several years.
